This is my first time going all out with any Linux distro.
And the first time posting here I can tell. Otherwise you would not have hijacked a thread... That's a no no around here.
I ran what was Mandrake about a year ago and never used it much, but I like SUSE much better. Do I need to run an AV program and spyware protection? These may sound like dumb questions, but I have no idea how well protected SUSE is on the Net. Thanks
You don't need to protect suse much. Spyware is pretty much un heard of in the Linux world. There are only one or two known worms that can infect Linux, and they need your help to do so. SuSE, unlike some other distros installs quite securely. It has almost everything turned off by default. So Don't turn anything you don't need on, such as Imapd or ftpd or any other services you don't want. Choose good passwords, because there are a few people trying dictionary attacks against ssh servers. General advice: If you have a firewall device, use it. If not, use SuSE's. -- _____________________________________ John Andersen
