I have problems connecting my SuSE box to Internet:
a) If I use "bridge work mode" on router and set up aDSL connection with YaST (or rp-pppoe) I am able to connect to Internet.
b) If I want to use PPPoE on router (and enter my username and password on router, or use options provided by device) configuring PC as plain DHCP client, with Ethernet only connection and without DSL configuration, I am not able to connect to Internet.
Sounds like a routing problem.
I get following error: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Jun 9 10:22:54> pppd 2.4.1 started by root, uid 0 Jun 9 10:24:34> System Call Error Jun 9 10:24:34> Couldn't get channel number: Transport endpoint is not connected Jun 9 10:24:34> Doing disconnect ------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks here like you are still trying to run PPP from the linux box... Nope, don't do that. Once you turn pppoe over to the router, the linux box really doesn't need to run anything special other than to realize that the ip address of the router (192.168.1.1 I think in your case) is the gateway.
At this moment I am able to ping router from PC, ping PC from router, but nothing goes through routers WAN slot... PC has IP (192.168.1.2) provided from DHCP server on router, router IP (192.168.1.1) is gateway address for PC...
Sounds good
DSL status is OK Ethernet status OK Connection status - not connected...
Where are these messages from? Need a better description of the actions you took when you put the router in place. What did you change on the linux box?
