You think? I'd say it's useful to know about good fonts, for sale or for free. Even type designers have to live, y'know. If you were interested in Linux DTP or setting serious stuff, some of the myfonts faces look excellent. You and I may both be opposed to the MS business model and to closed source in general, but it doesn't mean I would never pay for good things. Cheers Fergus

Check out the My Fonts folks (http://www.myfonts.com). Again, originally designed for Windows but looks good every where else as well. Many small foundries represented and many excellent fonts.
One or two of them are even free. You'll be expected to pay a modest price for others. All are good.
