FYI, for those looking for fonts found this page with 6500 of them for free. It is built with WinBlows in mind but I have used and installed quite a few into my Linux box and they work great. :) http://www.webpagepublicity.com/free-fonts.html -- wgwestfall1@privatemail.me.uk Made with:________________________________ Thunderbird 1.0.2 (20050317) Linux 2.6.8-24.13 AMD64 GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.2)

Can you or someone on the list give the instructions on installing and using these ttf fonts. I've downloaded a sample font and placed in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/truetype. How do I go about "installing and using" the new font? In konqueror right click on the font link and select install (and then choose local on system wide installation). That's it. Brana

I install them via control centre. Control Centre/System Administration/Font Installer.... Got into administrator mode and then the fonts will be available system wide. :) -- wgwestfall1@privatemail.me.uk Made with:________________________________ Thunderbird 1.0.2 (20050317) Linux 2.6.8-24.13 AMD64 GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.2)
Check out the My Fonts folks (http://www.myfonts.com). Again, originally designed for Windows but looks good every where else as well. Many small foundries represented and many excellent fonts. One or two of them are even free. You'll be expected to pay a modest price for others. All are good. On Monday 04 April 2005 17:23, William Westfall wrote:

You have to pay if you want fonts from this site. I would be using Micro$oft if I wanted to pay for shit. -----Original Message----- From: James F. You think? I'd say it's useful to know about good fonts, for sale or for free. Even type designers have to live, y'know. If you were interested in Linux DTP or setting serious stuff, some of the myfonts faces look excellent. You and I may both be opposed to the MS business model and to closed source in general, but it doesn't mean I would never pay for good things. Cheers Fergus

I certainly don't like closed source development, and I agree that M$ prodicts are inferior...but these don't look like sh@# fonts to me. -- Alex Lowe's 3 Rules for Climbing: 1 - Come Back Alive! 2 - Come Back Still Friends With Your Partners! 3 - Get To The Top!
