the link is ok, but why shall paride be in there?
i believe it is there in case the drive is connected via parallel. Probably not needed.
But in both cases the directory entries look like this:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Dec 30 23:06 /dev/dvd -> hdd lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 Jan 7 17:53 /dev/dvdrecorder -> hdb brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 64 Oct 2 2004 /dev/hdb brw------- 1 martin disk 22, 64 Oct 2 2004 /dev/hdd
Interesting. resmgr appears to configure your dvd, but not the dvdrecorder. Could you post your /etc/resmgr.conf? Also check /etc/logindevperm, which determines the permissions (but not the owner).
What am I doing wrong here? There must be something I am missing here. So far I have no clue what it is.
What version are we working with BTW? Mine works as expected, so I'm sure we can get it.
/dev/dvdrecorder and /dev/dvdram are missing in resmgr.conf before 9.3.
Just add them like the others.
Ciao, Marcus
Thank you Marcus, but as Joe suggested, I was missing the entry in /etc/logindevperm. I had changed the entries in /etc/resolv.conf but didn't know anything about /etc/logindevperm so that it didn't work. But now it does. Have a nice day Martin
