I can't imagine that installing sound drivers in XP (which is installed on it's own HD) would affect a Linux install... but I'm running out of ideas. I know sound worked perfectly on the initial 9.3 install.
So... not making much progress here.... any other suggestions?
When you 'tinkered' with the drivers in XP, did the driver update flash the hardware? If so, you may not get things working in Linux. I don't know if the install for the XP drivers told you anything, it may be worth checking out the vendors website or e-mailing them if you don't know. If you have not put too much time into 9.3 yet (besides the sound problem) it may be worth a re-install. If the XP drivers did flash the chip on the soundcard the 'rollback driver' function in the 'Device Manager' may not properly roll the driver back. You may be able to re-flash with an older driver or some utility on the vendors site. Good luck! - James W.
