I have a widescreen Laptop. I was able to configure it for use with Xorg If I remember correctly there were 2 issues. 1.) getting the proper resolution Took getting proper modes defined for that resolution. 2.) getting a square dpi (e.g. 92x92, as apposed to defaulted wide pixel 96x92) Took getting the proper modline for the desired resolution. With the newer (haven't tried the latest, once I got 629 driver working, I stopped messing) nvidia drivers, there is better monitor polling. I forget the actual keywords. Needed to pass a parameter in XF86Config telling it to ignore the reported modes and use the ones I specified. This may be better supported under 9.3 as well as 7167 if you use nvidia card Hope this gives a good starting point. B-) On Tuesday 26 April 2005 12:20 pm, Terje J. Hanssen wrote:
Hello everyone,
For CAD/CAM purpose, I'm assessing a Dell Ultrasharp 2405FPW monitor, which is a 24" WUXGA 1620x1200 LCD. I have seen some discussions about Linux issues on the web, and I am not sure if it will work properly. I searched Suse's hardware database, but didn't find support for widescreen LCDs from Dell, model 2005FPW or 2405FPW.
Dell has created a list of video card support (on Windows I expect) for this widescreen LCD: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/learnmore/learnmore.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s= bsd&%7Eid=monitors&%7Eline=desktops&%7Emode=popup&%7Eseries=optix&%7Etab=oth er
Any suggestions regarding proper video card and possibly knowledge or expectiations of Suse 9.3/Xorg support for this wide LCD are welcome.
