Hello,
can anyone recommend an affordable and reliable backup software that I can use to backup my local server? It should have a database with the used media and the sessions and files on those media. Would like to be able to configure backup/restore jobs with a ssh client like putty.

Sandy, I'm using Arkeia Network Backup 5.2.0 and haven't had any "big" problems. There is a free version of the 5.x called Arkeia Light. You can shell in to your box and run it. The manual for the commands is huge if you want to print it out (around 300 pages, if I remember correctly). I'm using it with a ADIC FastStor2 LTO2 autoloader that is equipped with a barcode reader and everything works fine. Took a small bit of work to get it working though. The couple of times I contacted support (web support), I received a rapid reponse to my ticket. Try the Light version and if it fits, maybe look at the pay for version. John
