Hi all, please forgive me if this topic has come up before, but has anyone been able to get an internal ATAPI ZIP drive to work with SuSE 9.2? It is not recognised by the automounting system for removable storage, and if I try to mount it using 'mount' command I get the message that '/dev/hdd4' does not exist'. Any help would be appreciated. Ted Mason
Iomega has some information from 2001 which they say is applicable to 2.4.0 or later kernels. I removed my ATAPI ZIP drive when I installed 9.0, so I can pretty much only point you to their site: http://www.iomega.com/software/linuxtools.html Do note where it says, for an ATAPI drive, you need to be using the ide-scsi driver. I don't recall having done anything special about this when I was using the drive, but you might wish to load the driver as soon as possible, eg. with a "hdd=ide-scsi" kernel parameter. Iomega also has some utilities that might be useful, though when I first installed my drive (SuSE 6.2), those weren't available, and it worked well with the installed system.
