Thanks for reminding me of this. I had forgotten that, in my efforts to get Firefox going, I had created more than one profile. But having more than one profile doesn't explain why or how a folder full of bookmarks is in its place one day and, on reboot the following day, is nested deep within a different folder. Anyway, as long as I found it and got it back to its proper place...
You can force the profile manager to start (just to see) with:
firefox -ProfileManager
note: many commands/programs provide helpful information available by using the command structure: firefox --help Try it.
