Right-click on the desktop, then: Icons -> Sort Icons -> ...
Select and / or de-select the options do and do not want as far as icon positioning and ordering are concerned.
This is nothing new to 9.2, though the default may have changed. Also check to see if SuseWatcher is set to start automagically, it moved icons around all over the place in 9.1 IF it's in your panel it will move stuff around. As long as you do regular checks for security updates it doesn't need to be running, since it's job mainly is to check when you are online if
