I'm getting lost. Procmail?
Me too Carlos - Done so many different things. Wondering which way is up. Such a simple? thing - so difficult - Just old and senile I guess.
...........<snip some>...............
During that process I changed the name of my local address to "EasyStreet" hoping that it would make things a little clearer for me. That worked for sending messages. (somewhat) Now I find that emails cannot be downloaded to that address. The other two are OK, one of which is the address that this list is sent to me.
Or postfix? Be carefull with names, or you'll get us very confused. I was helping you to configure postfix.
Ummmm... Yes you are correct. Will try harder not to confuse you or me !
You say you are sending to "bob@EasyStreet.local". I don't know how you have done that, what configuration you modified, but I see a possible problem there: postfix will have problems delivering to servers that are not resolved by the DNS server.
Welll... I changed the name several days ago, figuring that it would help me keep track of what I was doing. (used to be that name for several years until I upgraded to 8.2 and it was changed to Linux) I made the change in Yast2 Host Names This is what is in there at present: --------------------------------------- 127.0.0.1 localhost 127.0.0.2 EasyStreet.local EasyStreet (alias) fe00::0 ipv6-localnet ff00::0 ipv6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ipv6-allnodes ff02::2 ipv6-allrouters ff03::3 ipv6-allhosts -------------------------------------- Now, looking in Yast, under Hostname & DNS, I have the following: Hostname _EasyStreet, Domain name_local Under the Name Servers and domain search list I have the following: Name server 1 & 2 are my ISP's IP addresses. Under Domain search 1, it is "local".
What exactly is your machine name? It is the ouput of this command:
hostname --long
EasyStreet.local
Now in the next message you asked me to do a grep output and two other
commands. This is the result:

hostname -- fqdn results in: hostname: Host Name lookup failure
dnsdomainname results in : local

Now, seeing that the hostname failed, I went back in to Hostname & DNS and
added 127.0.0.1 (localhost) to the Name server search list. That resulted in
a hostname --fqdn query as: EasyStreet.local. I can still mail to "root" and
"bob" but mailing to myself at my ISP ( rnr@sanctun.com ) results in a
deferred message in the mail log. As follows in the last few lines of the
mail log.
