YaST and YOU can deal with such package splits. It's not our fault that rpm doesn't support package renames and splits.
Is there an explanation how YOU is dealing with package splits? kde-3.2: kdegraphics3-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-3D-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-devel-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-extra-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-fax-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-kamera-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-pdf-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-postscript-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-scan-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-tex-3.2.1-63.i586.rpm kde-3.3: kdegraphics3-3.3.0-13.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-3D-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-extra-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-fax-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-imaging-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-kamera-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-pdf-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-postscript-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-scan-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm kdegraphics3-tex-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm Diff: update_for_9.1/applications $ comm -3 /tmp/kde-3.? kdegraphics3-devel kdegraphics3-imaging Let's forget about devel. # rpm -qlp kdegraphics3-imaging-3.3.0-12.i586.rpm | grep bin /opt/kde3/bin/kiconedit /opt/kde3/bin/kolourpaint /opt/kde3/bin/kuickshow /opt/kde3/bin/kview kolourpaint is new kiconedit and kview moved from kdegraphics3-extra-3.2.1 kuickshow moved from kdegraphics3-3.2.1 PROVIDENAME: kdegraphics3:/opt/kde3/bin/kuickshow PROVIDES: kdegraphics3:/opt/kde3/bin/kuickshow I assume that when the the above 2 rpm tags contains a colon ":" it means that the file /opt/kde3/bin/kuickshow from kdegraphics3 has been replaced by this package (in this case kdegraphics3-imaging). Is this assumption correct? Does it mean that information about the move of the apps kiconedit and kview is missing? Meaning that YOU won't be able to tell that e.g. kiconedit has moved to kdegraphics3-imaging from kdegraphics3-extra? -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
