Actually NOT MY WORDS, but SuSE's!
Okay...
And it does say all Linux applications 'the major part of ALL LINUX APPLICATIONS'
Well, as you have quoted, <quote> The Linux kernel and the major part of all Linux applications are subject to the "GPL", a license that guarantees free availability and the disclosure of the source code. </quote> It just means (roughly), that if there are a hundred applications, 99 of them are "subject to GPL". So, iow, *not* all can be freely distributed ;)
How do you copy the major part ie 51% or more of an application. 51% of an application is not an application
See above. There is also this "binary-only" thing like the one mentioned here: http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/ (of course, there are others, I guess, like those commercial applications mentioned earlier...) Anyway, I'm using a "premium" version of SuSE 9.1 Pro which includes some commercial fonts, im, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to distribute those. -- - E - on SUSE 9.1 | blackbox 0.70b2 | Panasonic CF-L1 Buffalo WLI-PCM-L11GP | copperwalls was here ;) "Look!
