If you do not have a non standard and exotic burner, then your setup is probably messed up somewhere.
I always jumped on the new and latest versions, even updating frequently the kernel with a kotd. It always gave me more functionality. And I had to learn something, which I'm not afraid of. Can't wait to get 9.2 !!!!!

K3b loads, won't burn. Xcdroast won't go beyond the attempt to recognize the drive before locking up & having to be killed: pg0: Autoprobe failed pg: No ATAPI device detected == pg0: Autoprobe failed pg: No ATAPI device detected Device 0b:00 not ready. == pg0: Autoprobe failed pg: No ATAPI device detected sr0: CDROM not ready. Make sure there is a disc in the drive. ...are the various errors I get when I try to access the drive. MPlayer, however, will play a DVD ...and I can otherwise browse CDRs w/o any problem. The installation I did which encompassed the entire HD burned CDs, but locked up on every 2nd or 3rd boot ...just prior to init 5; I reinstalled on half the drive and now I cannot burn a thing. I have made no adjustments to the CD-RW/DVD-R drive. I'm puzzled, frankly. -- "Yogi" CH Namasté Yoga Studio
