Have you gone to setup in Xcdroast to allow users to burn cds. Generally xcdroast only allows root to do it. There is an option to allow different users to do it. You need to be root first to enable it. Once you do it, xcdroast can be used by anyone.
Sometimes yes, and most often no! I never know from one install to the next if it's going to work or not. The problems ALL stem from permissions NOT being set properly from the get go......I think. I've done the same install on IDENTICAL hardware on the SAME day, and NEVER will I get even most boxen to be able to burn CDs as user. This is an example of what MUST be fixed before Linux and SUSE can move MickySoft OFF the desktop.
