Hi Thank you for your quick response However if i modify marsnwe then i get a message "insmod -k :ipx: no such file or folder"
Exactly what do you mean by "modify"? What did you do? The above syntax for insmod is wrong for 2.6 kernels, and where do the : come from? I don't see anything like it in the marsnwe docs in 9.1 Try simply "modprobe ipx" as root on a command line.
modprobe(.conf) or its equivalent in SuSE 9.1 refers to a file on the hard disk Therefore i suppose that the kernel does not support IPX which is in clear and obvious contrast with the manual. Either the manual and or SuSE is incorrect in stating that this is supported or the kernel is defective. In either case i've purchased something that is less than complete
There is a third case that you haven't considered
Greetings Peter
ps in suse 9.0 with a lower kernel version masnwe works like a charm is kernel 2.4 better and more complete than 2.6?
Not surprising since you're using 2.4 syntax in the insmod command.
