Also you can change directory (cd) to the source in /usr/src/linux (if linked to it) and read the README file "less README". Remember you will need to be "root" to completely build and install a new kernel
Found last night that 2.6.9 fails to install a nvidia.ko module so NVidia's file will fail. Works fine with 2.6.8-1
