SuSE 9.0 There was a problem with the original xntp rpm from install disk trying to address the drift file with an incorrect address. mmj from SuSE posted corrected rpm's which he has removed. I have copies of those rpm's at: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/xntp-4.1.1-367.i586.rpm and http://wahoo.no-ip.org/~pat/xntpd-doc-4.1.1-367.i586.rpm
You may correct the link manually, if you prefer. Described below.
From a thread earlier this year:
error in link - lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 2003-12-22 17:40 /var/lib/ntp/var/lib/ntp -> .././
must be: /var/lib/ntp/var/lib/ntp -> ../../
Which-ever solution you are most comfortable will provide the drift file.
Many thanks for the files' links. I decided to go w/Leen's file since it was a little newer ...and I am not certain if it is working correctly. I managed to get a synch, but am still getting the same file error.
Did you do a 'rcxntpd restart'? Cheers, Leen
