http://linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-LaserJet_5000 should get you going. I'd recommend trying this instead of the old PPD you have.

Thanks for the reply Stan. Update: I tried the old file because I thought the new system was screwed. Actually, I was trying to print a PDF file that was screwed.
