I just built a i386 rpm using the above instructions. I could get it to anybody who wants it. Just shoot me an e-mail.
BTW -- checkinstall is awsome. I had never heard of it before!

Yup that little "sucker" (checkinstall) works nicely for "not-so-complicated" "projects" Johan

How can I install Gramps on my SUSE 9.1, It complains over missing packages no matter what I do. Have any of you out there tried this program
I just went thru that with my 64 bit install. I documented all of the packages you need (see the SuSE on 64 bit Architecture section on this page).

Not that easy, when I try to ./autogen.sh I get this error:
Not sure what the ./autogen.sh is about. As mentioned in the earlier reference, I compiled gramps from source doing
./configure make su checkinstall
Then installing the resulting RPM.
Nowhere did I use a script called autogen.sh. I did the above *after* installing all of the packages listed in the earlier reference using Yast and letting Yast resolve any dependencies.
