Check motv for the auto-tune / auto-find options. motv is the Gnome version of xawtv so it uses the same .xawtv conf file. I've never had zapping work but then I have an ATI All-In-Wonder and they are a challenge versus a stand alone TV card.
Well, that's nicer - still a far cry from zapping, though (which worked perfectly in SuSE 8.2) But I can not change stations names neither in motv nor xawtv! Not even editing the .xawtv file directly. The first station is named "A3", according to the file. But in the screen it shows as "Nederland 1" - impossible to change. There is no "Nederland" string in the configuration file! Where on earth is it getting that station name? I have scanned all the stations again. I changed all stations names to usefull names, saved, restarted: no way, "A3" is on a diferent place, but it shows as "Nederland 1". In fact, I'm getting stations that are not on the .xawtv file. Side note: That "Nederland 1" names comes from the fact that the station reports itself by that name. My guess is that they bought the equipment from some Nederlands company - and they never bothered to change the name to the real "Antena 3", or that they didn't pay the support to get it changed. Shame on them! But that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that neither motv nor xawtv allows me to change some station names! (I have grepped my whole home dir, and there is no file with "Nederland 1" ont it - except my mailbox) I still want zapping back! :-/ -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
