fred you´d be better just clearing off outa here and staying with windBlows cus you do nowt but whingw and whimper about Linux is no good for this that and other just do the world a favour and knaff off or sit back and get on with life stop bieng such a whimpering namby pamby for once .
Jeez, am going to end up having to killfile you? A little less baloney and a little more tolerance and effort to distinguish fact from opinion wouldn't come amiss. I just spent today trying and failing to get a 802.11g pci card to work under SuSE 9.1, actually two cards. I already had one ( a Dlink 520+) with the dreaded acx100 TI chipset, so I go to the Linux wireless site, check the card-database, pick one which says "Atheros chipset" and which the site rates "perfect" and go out and buy it. Guess what, it turns out to have the dreaded TI chipset as well. So what do we have in this little story? A whole day and 50 bucks wasted. A Linux website I wouldn't now trust further than I could kick it. Oh, and we also have the famous acx100 driver website and forums at sourceforge. These are full of tiresome denunciations of capitalism, scorn for "Winblows" users blah blah, but as for clear and sober documentation, a how-to that's actually comprehensible, evidence that someone knows what a dictionary is, log messages that print back facts not opinions, a working driver ... yeah, right. Man, am I getting tired of the self-righteous nonsense that passes for so much of Linux these days. :) Fish
