Has it been confirmed that SUSE is not going to provide an update that will allow PHP/Apache2 to run with mysql? (and that those who need that capability have to go through the throes of a recompile?)
Well, that is not true. I've SuSE 9.1 installed with mysql, php 4.3.4 and apache2 and everything is working just fine. and, in earlyer version of SuSE (9.0) the same thing, but compiled by myself. yesterday, i've compiled apache 2.0.49 and PHP 4.3.6, staying only with mysql from the installation of SuSE, and everything is working with no problems !!! Even when apache was installed by SuSE, the online update provided updates and patches... Best regards Bruno Santos
