[04-11-04 13:25]: After my daughter's PC developed problems, I decided to install Linux and crossover office and in the process discovered it was a bad DIMM. Now I have Linux as /dev/hda1 and Windows as /dev/hdc1. When I boot in grub and select Windows, it comes back to the menu and boots only Linux. I wonder if my suspicion that Windows (98SE) needs to be on /dev/hda1 is correct, grub is set correctly to boot Windows from (hd1,0).
All is well. dos/windoz needs to be on the first hard drive, but you can fool it with grub.
info grub -> booting -> general boot methods -> chain loading -> dos/windows
bottom of 2nd paragraph explains using 'map' to do a virtual swap of the hard drives.
Thanks, I shall read and heed. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer Linux Only Shop.
