I am trying to work out how to send faxes from my SuSE9 system and have been going round in circles. I have tried the manuals but I cannot seem to get anywhere. Which software do I use, and how do I get a document "printed" to the fax modem?
I am using CUPS.
The printing manager lists a number of "printers" including the Advanced faxing tool, but I cannot work out how to print to it, since it doesn't appear in the print dialogue boxes. For example Mozilla just lists postscript/default and postscript/HPLaserjet (my only physical printer.) O-Office lists the laserjet, generic and KPrinter. I thought the last might be the one but there are no options to select the device in its setup window.
Could some one please point me in the right direction, I haven't a clue how to start and the manuals don't seem to provide the answer.
I'm not sure how others are doing it, but I can tell you how it is set up here. I use 'kprinter'. In Mozilla, choose 'print' from the file menu, then click on 'properties'. Change the print command to kprinter and adjust your margins. I also set kprinter to be the default printer in Open Office and other apps. This give me a single print interface to deal with. As for faxing, setting up Hylafax is realy easy and can be accessed from kprinter. After installing Hylafax from yast, run faxsetup as root and answer the questions. Edit /etc/inittab and uncomment the hylafax line (you may have to change the ttyS1 to whatever port your using). Then run kdeprintfax and configure it to use hylafax. -- Louis D.
