1. Is there a Gnome equivalent of the KDE "Open Terminal Here" function for Nautilus?
You can do this with Nautilus' scripting ability, you should be able to find an appropriate script (along with loads of others) at http://g-scripts.sf.net/
Thanks James, that did the trick with the Open Terminal Here script (in PERL).
nautilus --no-desktop "/data/documents/The Folder I Want To Open". This works in that Nautilus opens, but when I close the folder, the Nautilus-throbber process crashes pretty consistently (1 every 3-4 times).
Can't replicate this, if you run that command from a terminal, is there any useful output when it crashes?
I can't get it to crash from a terminal either. It only crashes from a Launcher on the top panel. Go figure...
3. I run dual monitors driven by a Matrox G450. In KDE, the workspace switcher on the bottom panel configures itself uniquely for each desktop. (I like to name each workspace with the name of the anchor application running in that space. In KDE, if I had four workspaces on each monitor, I could have eight uniquely named workspaces.) In Gnome, the workspaces are named identically on both monitors. Is this configurable?
Really don't know about this one, I suspect it has to do with how GNOME and KDE deal with Xinerama - might be worth Googling around those search terms...
I Googled, and it seems to be that that's the way Gnome is. I'm not using Xinerama BTW; the displays are two separate displays. It seems that some parts of Gnome are more aware of the second display than others. James, do you recommend updating to 2.4 from the SuSE supplementary directory? And if so, are there any gotchas of which I should be aware? Thanks again, Mark -- _____________________________________________________________ A Message From L.
