Forget about "xhost +localhost". Use "sux" instead of "su" and you won't need the dangerous xhost. ("man xhost" will give you more info.)
Interesting - my system has xhost (as most do!) but no manpage for xhost.
On 9.0: $ rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/man/man1/xhost.1x.gz XFree86-man-4.3.0.1-21
Is there a version of "sudo" that avoids the need for "xhost +localhost"?
"sux" and "ssh -X" are the replacements. See also the security section of "man xterm". -- A.M.
