How about:
Create a temporary working directory, make symlinks in that directory to the files in your playlist, rename the symlinks (krename can do it as a batch, and I believe the bash command mv can as well,) use the symlinks in K3B and away you go.
Yeh, it's a cludge, but it'll work until you find a better way.

I couldn't find any info on changing filenames with changing numbers in man mv so I went to Krename. It looks like it'll do what I want but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to create the template and where to put it. So where & how? Don Henson
