I need to add a harddisk to a running system (Compaq).
Some questions I need to be sure before I can do that: 1. what is the SCSI id of the existing harddisk? So that I use for sure a new ID.
cat /proc/scsi/scsi
2. the new harddisk should get three partitions: swap temp var How do I format these partiotion, I guess I should use reiser,
mkswap for swap. Then swapon. mkfs.xxxxx for the other partitions.
shouldn't I?
3. How to move all temp & var to the new disk Mv is not the problem, but so that all programs continue to log and that a minimum of time a log will be lost!
Lots of luck on the rest of it. I really don't think it's going to fly. For one thing you haven't asked how to get the system to recognize the new drive.
Thanks!
