Is M player hard to build, configure..I'm not really satisfied with x theater..I've never compiled anything in my life..just wondering what the reulsts from ppl here on the list have been. MPlayer works great! Just go over to packman at http://packman.links2linux.de/index.php4?action=128 and download ALL the packages it lists for each version of SuSE. In case you dont read german, the bottom list is of things you need to add to be able to read all the varying formats including dvd's.
Simply click on each and save in a convenient spot and then install.
You can find the documentation at http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/ .
unfortunately, not all the dependencies are there.. downloading everything listed from the webpage left me still needing libdv, liblirc_client, libsmbclient (!), and libsndfile. i had originally planned on installing it via apt since packman is in the suse apt reposotiry, but it kept trying to grab suse's very weak (and also older) version. when i took base out of the /etc/apt/sources.list i got a lot of failed depends (same list, but claiming they were not installable). guess i've been lucky so far.. this is the first time i've ever had a problem installing something with apt.. -- trey
