I'm printing a test page right now that came from my cups control center on my browser. When I go to KDE and select cups under printers, then click on this printer...I crash. KDE Control Center closes on me. Thoughts? Tom On Tue, 2003-05-20 at 12:34, Tom Nielsen wrote:
I think I got somewhere.
I went to my browser http://localhost:631 (this is the cups server...or something)
I clicked on Administration. I logged in as root.
I then opened LinNeighborhood and found my wife's network, laptop and printer.
Leaving that open I went back to cups on my browser.
I entered her printer name under name, and IP address under Location. Then clicked Continue.
Under device, I chose Windows Printer via SAMBA which was located at the bottom of the drop down list. Click Continue
For Device URI I entered: smb://STD_LS/BECKY/HP-BECKY and clicked Continue
I chose Hewlett-Packard under Make and clicked Continue.
Then chose 1170CXI (can't remember which one). Then Continue.
Last screen says HP-BECKY has been added. I click on the link, then click Print Test Page and BAM! there's my page in color and b/w.
Best of luck!

I used to be able to do it, but I can't remember how. Also, it was when I had 8.0.
