Hi Mark, I think I will need a little more assistance because I am a complete ignorant in this stuff. I runned smbadduser but it says I have to put unixid:netid, so I putted unixid jose which is the same user in Windows XP and my linux box, but what is the netid or where should I get that. The password I putted is the same that in Windows XP. But it didn't work, I think because, the netid I putted was something I invented in that moment.
Jose - Smbadduser is asking you to tell it what the Linux username is that is linked to the Windows username, like this: smbadduser jose:jose Both user accounts need to exist identically on both systems. Then you'll be able to: smbpasswd jose (you'll get the prompt to enter the password twice) and then smbpasswd will tell you it added the password successfully.
