Thanks Michael, I tried Mandrake 9.1 with little success, however the main trble there was the boot-up script hung attempting to initialize a non-existent PCMCIA module in my new 2105CA (sounds very similiar to yours). Video never got tested as I was not able to start X. Video failed to configure though during the install I noted. Wonder if anyone has had opportunity to install the new 8.2 on the newer Compaq line of laptops using ATI video graphics? Any issues crop up? Thanks so much!

I have been using SuSE 8.1, and now 8.2 on my Compaq Presario 2110US. It has an ATI Radeon Mobility U1. As of yet, I'm still forced to use the vesa drivers and software rendering for 3d. The vesa drivers work fine for basically anything you want to do, except you can't use the graphics card's 3d accel. -- --------------------------------------------------- So I went by 'cause I had the time.
