(sh ./LimeWireLinux.bin) Preparing to install...
libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
What is wrong? Do i have to create a link somewhere?
No, the LimeWire folks try to work around a problem of Java on Linux (because the IBM/Sun java programmers just made wrong assumptions). That work-around only works on RedHat and even there it only blocks the usage of libpthread. On SuSE Linux you will get the problems you describe. Just to make it clear, the bug is in Java, not in our glibc! To make the installer work, search the following lines in LimeWireLinux.bin and delete them: # glibc floating stack problem on Linux if [ `uname -s` = Linux ] then case `uname -r` in 2.[456]*) LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL ;; esac fi Philipp -- Philipp Thomas work: pthomas@suse.de Development SuSE Linux AG private: pth@t-link.de
