i just installed a SUSE 8.1 (default installation) and then i tried to install Limewire 2.6 as root. The installer answered:
Launching installer...
rm: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory rm: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
What is wrong? Do i have to create a link somewhere?
I'm getting the same message when trying to start the Mozilla which comes with 8.1. I have my own version of Mozilla in my home directory, which starts fine without that error message.
The difference is in environment variable LD_ASSUME_KERNEL being set to 2.2.5 The errors are produced by this piece of code in /usr/X11R6/bin/mozilla: # export this temporarily - it seems to work with old and new # versions of the JVM. export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 # get the version JVM_VERSION=`$JVM_COMMAND -version 2>&1 | grep version | cut -f 3 -d " " | sed -e 's/\"//g'` unset LD_ASSUME_KERNEL case "$JVM_VERSION" in (1.3.0*) # bad JVM export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5 ;; The setting is not needed if you are using Java 1.3.1 or 1.4 I am using Java 1.3.1, so I commented out export line in the script.
