With all the talk about apt-get and synaptic, I decided to try it out. So, I found apt4rpm on sourceforge. Downloaded the rpm and .... error: failed dependencies: apt is needed by apt4rpm-0.50-1 libapt is needed by apt4rpm-0.50-1 Ok... so it's not a complete package. I'll just get the dependencies... So, I looked on the same page where I got apt4rpm, and the only other binary was an add-ons package. That did not have libapt or apt. So, I looked for mention in the SLE archives. What I found said that all the necessary packages live on the apt4rpm page at sourceforge. So, I downloaded and installed the source rpm, which was the only other downloadable on that page. No apt or libapt in there, either. So, I went back to sourceforge and searched "libapt" with their search option. Not found. Is there a binary rpm or a source rpm somewhere that contains apt and libapt that doesn't need to be compiled? Failing that, do I just grab the latest version from the Debian site, compile, and that will magically work with apt4rpm? Well, assuming that I have (or can find) whatever compiler version it demands... Also, www.suse.com is not found for the past four hours. Out of business? Or, a lo-o-o-ong maintenance window? Another long night with nothing to show for it. Ya-a-awn. :-) Gotta get up and go to work in two hours. Ugh. /kevin
