Tried installing Suse 7.3 on P4 machine and the installation process
I'm not sure there's still inst. support available for 7.3, it used to be that after 90 days after the new release the old release is de-supported. We give all retailers a chance to upgrade and take back any unsold copies, so if any stores still have the old release on the shelves there's not much we can do. Yes, if that's still the policy they could at least have told you... Do you have the support ticket number?
could not find CD2 after I put it in the tray and clicked on the 'OK' button. I'm using Yast2 and booting from a cdrom.
I clicked on the 'Show Details' checkbox and it displayed the following:
Could not mount the source medium.
mount: block device /dev/hdc is write-protected, mount read-only mount:
Please have a look at /dev/hdc with "ls -l /dev/hdc". It should start with "brw---...." (for block device, user: read/write) and the user listed should be you. As you already noticed, for the installation itself it is of no consequence if you only have/use/can use CD #1 since this CD has the entire base ("Default") system on it. Have you already tried to use "YOU" (online update) to update your 7.3 system? Michael
