With previous versions of SuSE the ftp server was operating by default. Now it seems that with SuSE 8 there isn't a running ftp server. I know from previous discussions that rc.config was moved to sysconfig but I don't know what to change now so that the ftp server will be started when SuSE starts. Can anyone help me?
Edit /etc/inetd.conf and uncomment the line that is relevant for the ftp server you're using, save and run insserv inetd. If you're running an ftp server standalone (i.e. not started from inetd) the answer depends on what server you're using. For instance proftpd has a keyword "standalone" that you need to set in its config file. regards Anders -- `When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'
