I'm now trying to configure an Orinoco Silver wireless pcmcia card for my laptop and am having a few issues. I downloaded the linux drivers from the orinoco site and built them per the README, but am having trouble getting the module loaded and therefore getting the card recognized and working.
If you have a 2.4 Kernel you may get better results using the orinoco_cs driver from the pcmcia_cs packages.. See http://pcmcia-cs.sourceforge.net for more details and the pcmcia howto or if you have an earlier kernel try the wvlan_cs driver, again in the pcmcia package.
You'll probably want the wireless tools packages see

I have the orinoco_cs driver installed and I verified that it is a loaded module by typing "lsmod". I also installed via YaST2 the wireless tools, but am unsure how to use them. Anyway, I still can't get the card configured. I tried setting it up as a network card in YaST2 (and I checked PCMCIA) but no joy. I see that there are several config files in /etc/sysconfig and /etc/pcmcia but I'm at a total loss as to what to configure, especially since it seems that the correct driver is already loaded as a module. I would really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks very much, Charles __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
