In general, YOU is very good. There are occasional problems like the recent problem with XCD-Roast. I think this came about because XCD-Roast uses a library that had a security flaw. When the library was replaced on online update, XCD-Roast could not use it properly. SuSE fixed this is a few days. Several people posted methods for getting XCD-Roast to work until the fix arrived.
You may find problems if you try to install packages like the very latest version of KDE that are likely to conflict with existing core packages on your version of SuSE. If you don't know what you're doing with these, either wait for the next version of SuSE or learn how to live with conflicts. Most packages, e.g. the RC2 and RC3 versions of Mozilla 1.0 create no problems with YOU if you install them properly.
I've had very few problems with YOU. Yes, I found that XCD-Roast didn't work, but I checked the output when running from a Konsole, looked at this list and correctly guessed that SuSE would fix it very quickly.

I wish to use SuSE's Yast Online Update to download the latest patches and update for my SuSE Linux box. I would appreciate any advice and or tips on successfull applying updates via YOU. Please keep in mind that I am a newbie, although I do know how to use chmod, chown, chgrp etc, on a basic level.
