Hi Brian, I have a C60 and it works perfectly. I'm using the parallel port interface, not the USB interface. The port should be set to EPP/ECP if you want to monitor the printer. There's a nice standalone utility called mtink that monitors the ink quantity, cleans cartridge heads, etc., found here: http://xwtools.automatix.de/english/startE.htm I tried CUPS but it kept seg-faulting on me so I switched to LPRng and haven't had any problems since. The only problem (other than the price of ink) is that there isn't a native C60 or C80 driver and/or filter doo-higgee with LPRng, so I've been using the Color Stylus II driver without any problems. I would prefer a native driver via CUPS and gimp-print, but I'm planning on upgrading to 8.0 shortly (the local Micro Center was sold out believe it or not) and after reading this article: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/jsmeix_print-einrichten-80.html it seems it would be wise to hold off on CUPS until after the upgrade. If I had to do it over again, I think the C80 would be the better choice. I know a few people with C80's and it's much quieter than the C60, not to mention the print quality is much better. Cheers, -jrh
I am seriously considering purchasing an Epson printer (C60 or C80) and would like to hear any experiences that people have had using these printers with SuSE. I am using SUSE 7.3 Pro.
Cheers,
Brian
