Okay - I think I have 8.0 sorted out - mostly. Except that I NEED to be able to ftp into the SuSE8.0 box.
The method I used in 7.3 (enabling services in /etc/inetd.conf isn't working.) Somebody please tell me how to set up for this. If I can't resolve this, I'll have to switch to RH or something else.
Hi Jay,
Is inetd running? If not go to: Yast2 > System > Runlevel Editor > properties and enable inetd for runlevels 3,4 and 5 This the new way services are started in SuSE 8. :-)
Yeah, inetd is set to run in RL 2 3 & 5, and it is running. What next?
Like Anders already said: Did you activate the ftp server you actually installed (ftpd, wuftp, proftp, pureftp or vsftp)? Machine is pingable and you're not trying to ftp as root are you ? (sorry, just checking). cheers, Marcel
