but this same configuration works fine for Yast.
so how can i install packages using FTP with Yast2?
If it works fine for YAST, what's the reason for needing YAST2?
also, not all the packages with yast are updated, for example mozilla is still 9.4. where can i get new suse packages?
It's in a directory projects/mozilla somewhere in the directory tree.
also, are Suse supports RPMs, does that mean i can get packages that are made for RedHat and install them on Suse without problems, if not what are the conditions?
RedHat RPMs often place things in the wrong directory or look for dependencies in the wrong directories. Sometimes they work, sometimes they do not. It's always better to try to find a SuSE rpm. (Sometimes the SuSE rpms are easier to get than the Red Hat ones, I had a pleasant surprise when trying to update Xine with that. :-) )
