Hi, Are you behind a PABX or in an area that has bad lines. If the answer is YES to either of these... ...change your initialisation string to ATx0 I think... ...which tells the modem not to wait for a dialtone. Works behind a PABX!!! Hope this helps Q On Mon 15 Oct 01 15:02, tleck@mindspring.com wrote:
Hello List Members, Hope someone on this list can help me get an external modem working under SuSE 7.2. The modem being used is:

Yast2 appears to set it up correctly. "wvdialconfig /etc/wvdial.conf" also appears correct, no errors

I need to find out how to set this thing up so it sees a dial tone. The phone works correctly. In my previous computer I has an internal ISA modem working without problems. The new computer does not have ISA slots and I thought an external modem should work without problems.
Thanks Terry
