Computer Shopper is the only mainstream pc mag I read, largely because of Charlie Stross's coverage of Linux. He usually gets some reviews of free software into the main bits of the mag. I've just opened the latest issue (165 Nov) and noticed he's got a review of Mutt 1.3 into the mainstream whats new section. The magazine as a whole seems to take a much less Microsoft stance than most of the others.
We need some of that in the US. If you read PC Magazine or PC World you almost wouldn't know Linux exists.
Yesterday I'd only just opened the magazine, having read it today I see that Charlie has also got a review of VIM, a feature article about Linux office applications and as brilliant a demolition of Microsoft in his usual column as I've ever seen in almost any mag let alone a mainstream pc one. btw I've never met the guy, or any of the publishers of ComputerShopper, niether do I have any sort of relationship with any of them.
