Not necessarily. /proc/mtab is a file maintained by mount/umount. You can for example do mount -n, so the mount won't be logged into /etc/mtab. There can also be problems writing to the file, while the mount is successful anyway. The only reliable source of information is /proc/mounts Regards Anders
