Have you tried the FA-310TX with the 2.4 kernel? (The SuSE hardware base lists it as 'supported' but the status of the tulip driver under 2.4 is unclear). Thanks for your help, bw PS FYI the FA-310TX are still available (the price is still about what you paid). "Robert S. McMillan" wrote:

I'd appreciate recommendations of cards known to be reliable with SuSE systems (preferably 6.4 (kernel 2.2) and 7.1 (kernel 2.4), since that's what I'm running). I know that there are many cards that are fine, I just need to pick one. Unfortunately none of the places I buy hardware know anything about Linux compatibilty. Reliability is my top priority, although cost is also relevant.
I've had zero problems with NetGear FA-310TX cards.
On my 6.4 system which I use for a gateway and a place to store backups, and my 7.1 system which is my workstation. The 6.4 box shares a modem with my machine and a legacy '95 system and I run backup scripts on it that grab literally gigabytes at a time over NFS from my workstation.
I just loaded the tulip module and they worked. I payed US$18.50, over a year ago. If they're still available, they're probably giving them away now.
