What would Dell do if you re-loaded your box with SuSE? Would that void the warranty?

I know they wont support an OS they didn't preinstall but you should be able to add Suse without removing redhat and still get support. And you have to admit its pretty nice being able to call up someone at 3 in the morning to trouble shoot something on your system.
I have a Dell that came with Red Hat preloaded. I subsequently wiped it out when I installed SuSE 6.4. Now my Dell computer has several mechanical things wrong with it. I won't recite the list of woes but do you think I have voided the warranty? If so I am just going to get it repaired on my own. Personally, I have not been very happy with Dell. I think their computers are pretty sloppy.

Just call Dell and ask them if you replace redhat with another distribution if it will void your warranty or if the os will simply be unsupported.

Best to give them a call and ask...They *should* cover the hardware. I juts happen to like Penguin, even if they want to make money :-). Would they let you open up the box and try to troubleshoot it yourself, or again would that void anything? Remember, Dell will not burn in components, even if its brand new type of hardware (as we know rev 1 hardware can be flaky). You may also have had a jinxed, although they should have offered to take it back if its causing too many woes. Matt
