Look in /etc/printcap. You will see references like lp3, lp4 as below. You can print to these using lpr -Plp3 (filename) or lpr -Plp4 (filename) ### BEGIN apsfilter: ### /etc/gs.upp/y2prn_lp.upp lp ### # Warning: Configured for apsfilter, do not edit the labels! # apsfilter setup Tue Feb 6 08:37:02 CST 2001 # lp-mono|lp3|y2prn_lp.upp--auto-lp|y2prn_lp.upp auto:\ :lp=/dev/lp0:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--auto-lp:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--auto-lp/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--auto-lp/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/y2prn_lp.upp--auto-lp:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh: # raw|lp4|y2prn_lp.upp--raw-lp|y2prn_lp.upp raw:\ :lp=/dev/lp0:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--raw-lp:\ :lf=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--raw-lp/log:\ :af=/var/spool/lpd/y2prn_lp.upp--raw-lp/acct:\ :if=/var/lib/apsfilter/bin/y2prn_lp.upp--raw-lp:\ :la@:mx#0:\ :tr=:cl:sh: ========================================================== On Thursday 03 May 2001 07:08, Jim Sabatke wrote:
I'm still having a printer problem. I can't print from applications or the command line (lpr); in either case I get an email:
apsfilter: unable to print job reply_offer.txt
I've tried re-setting up the printer in Yast 2 and 1. In Yast 2 the test print ("hello world") to lp0 works, but there is no /dev/lp0. Here are the lp? files I have in /dev/

Yast2 always gives an error that no lp0 exists, even after setting up a print queue.
This all started happening after an auto-update of software through Yast2. The printer was working fine after the initial 7.1 install.
Please help,
